This was my third week interning at the Rodham Institute in public health in DC. I moved into an apartment from my host’s house this week, and I have been preparing for my internship next week with senator Paul Strauss. I did not do much this week because of the holiday, but I was able to go out and explore DC some more.
Monday: On Monday I was told by my mentor, Tracie, that my task for the week was to come up with some lesson-plan ideas for the camp the Rodham Institute is running next week for school aged kids. I started this lesson plan on Monday and it was due on Friday.

Tuesday: On Tuesday I took the day off from working on the document, and I went to the bookstore at Dupont Circle to buy the second book in a trilogy I am reading. I then found an amazing sushi restaurant where I sat and read my book.
Wednesday: On Wednesday I finished the lesson plan for the camp next week, and sent it to Tracie. Unfortunately I wont be able to help with the camp because this was the week senator Paul Strauss was able to take me as an intern, but it was great being able to contribute to the camp, even when I wont be there.
Thursday: On Thursday during the 4th of July I got to see Despicable Me 4 in the theater, which was very fun and nicely air-conditioned(it was about 102 degrees that day).
Friday: On Friday I moved into my own apartment for the last three weeks of my internship. It was great to relocate somewhere closer to the metro because the place I was staying before was a thirty minute walk to public transportation. Now I’m just across the street from the metro entrance.
Sunday: Today(Sunday) I went to the Dupont Circle farmers market. I love farmers markets, and this one was huge. I’ll definitely be heading to that farmers market every Sunday until I leave now that I am closer to the metro.
Tomorrow I am starting my internship with Senator Paul Strauss for the week, this is a very exciting opportunity, and I am looking forward to finding out what I’ll be doing for him.
