Hi everyone, my name is Emma Galleger and this was 
my first week working in the Miller lab for marine biology, at UC Santa Barbara. Due to the holiday this week most people working in the lab were gone, so me and my roommate Samantha Abate went on tours of the building, locating supplies, meeting other scientists, and completing paperwork. We are going to be studying marine ecology at the miller lab for the next six weeks. Next week we might get to analyze kelp samples and organisms found on them. I can’t wait to meet our mentor this week and get started on a project! Also this week we explored our local area and got to know our surroundings. We were able to get almost everywhere on our bikes or by walking. We have also been able to cook good meals at home too, which has been fun! I can’t wait to share what we learn this week with you all soon!
