Hello, everybody, my name is Kaila. I am very proud and honored to be a 2026 Pinhead Intern. This summer, I will be working at UCSD’s George Lab of behavioral science.

STEAM has always been something that wildly interests me, and I have Pinhead to thank for that. I joined the First Lego League, and that forever changed my young mind. I slowly aged out of FLL and joined the high school team. Now, I am the Co-Captain of our high school’s First Tech Challenge. Because I joined at such a young age i used to go to the Inter Presestations every year, and I would look up to those high schoolers on the stage. Now, I can’t believe I will be one this year.

I would like to consider myself a very well-rounded kid. when im not doing STEM-related stuff im on stage. Theater has always been a very big part of my life. My parents owned their own theater in Mexico and directed/acted in many productions. Here in Telluride i am the social media manager for Telluride thesbian society. The stage has grown to be a place where I can be free and express myself while having fun.

In my downtime i love art. Ceramics and 3-D art have come to be some of my favorite things to pass the time and get my mind away from all life’s stressors. I am currently a Fellow for the AHHA School Of The Arts fellowship program. my piece will be a whimsical portrait of school life
I cannot wait for this internship and to update you all on my progress.
