My dog, Sandy

Hello everybody! My name is Cricket Kees. I am currently a junior in Telluride High School. This summer, I am going through the program of Pinhead to intern at the University of Houston for chemistry. I am extremely excited and grateful for this awesome opportunity to further my knowledge of science, specifically chemistry, to help me in my future endeavors. The reason as to why I chose this internship was because I intend on studying forensics science in college, but since I couldn’t work in specifically forensics science, chemistry was offered to me. This will still be very impactful as having a good understanding of chemistry can help me with practicing forensics science, and in general is something I would love to learn more about!

One big part of my life right now is that I am currently taking a course at my school that allows me to be mentored by a professional in a specific career. The one I chose was to work with the school resource officer, Brunner Hill. He has taught me how to analyze a crime scene, and I have been able to work along a friend of mine from school who is also interested in similar things. It has been a great experience, even though it doesn’t incorporate science the entire time (although we are learning about DNA analysis soon). It is helping me learn more about a future career I want to have, and in general has been a super enjoyable class.

My amazing team- I am to the far right (#10)

Something I am very passionate about is soccer. I have played soccer all my life, and doing it has given me so many great experiences, and taught me certain things school cannot. Learning how to work with a team, learning how to change after mistakes, learning how to make time for practicing during my free time, etc. I love my teammates so much and it has been such a great year so far working with them.
