Hello! This was my last week in Santa Barbara interning for marine biology. I’m sad to be leaving such a beautiful place but also very excited to go home to my family. This week was shorter because both me and my fellow Pintern, Emma Galleger, had to leave on Wednesday.

One of my final images.

Emma and I both got USCB sweatshirts!

Monday and Tuesday were our final days in the lab where we wrapped up all the projects we had been working on. We finished the last transects for the year 2018 and moved on to 2019. We were only able to complete a few transects in 2019 before we had to leave but it was interesting to see how the sea bed had changed. In the final transect that I checked, there were at least 70 clams in every image. I also got to go surfing one last time with my dad before we left, which was super fun!

Before we left, we wrote thank you notes to all the lab members who had worked with us as well as the instructors of the class that we were able to participate in. I’m so incredibly grateful for everything I was able to do here and I’m very sad to be leaving. This was an amazing opportunity and I will miss my time here!

Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
