Hello, I’m Maddison Coca, a hard working junior at Montrose High School who has a future goal of becoming a highly attentive surgeon. I have always been passionate about learning and then applying surgical expertise to impact the world of medicine in a more meaningful way. Through my interests in STEM courses and internships, as well as my hobbies, I am one step closer to living up to my passion.
Some of my hobbies include hunting and fishing, which initially sparked my interest in anatomy from a very young age. I am a multi-sport athlete, centering myself around softball and lacrosse. From these sports and my love for outdoor activities, I believe I can expand on my interpersonal skills that are applicable to the field I want to go into.
I have always surrounded myself in harder or AP level classes because I love pushing myself to my full potential. Having completed a recent internship at Black Canyon Surgical Center, where I’ve learned various, challenging life lessons and the work medical professionals do on the surgical field, I have found that I am bound to my passion of surgery.
Although I still have a long road ahead of me to achieve my goal, I am very dedicated and have the perseverance to stick with it. Through the challenging coursework and hobbies I take part in, I’m able to work on my interpersonal skills, something I tend to struggle with but have every motivation to overcome, and work towards my life long dream of becoming a surgeon.
