I am Baen Tougher and I am spending my summer in Boulder Colorado, at The Center for Aerospace and Astronomy. I will be working with The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics for the next 6 weeks. There I will be working with another Pintern, Loudon Demlond. For our internship, we will be working under Dmitry Vorobiev to design and use a stencil to put solar panels onto a satellite, that will go into orbit sometime next summer.

On my first day, we were given a tour of the LASP building and were given some safety training. On my second day, we were introduced to a program called solid works, that we will be using to design the stencil we will be using. For the rest of the week, Loudon and I learned how to use solid works and began our stencil.

Outside of work, I am able to do so many things in the city of Boulder. On our third day in Boulder, Loudon and I were able to get into the recreation center on the CU Boulder campus. Inside we went climbing and played basketball, soccer, and lacrosse. The house that we are staying at is with some post grades, who graduated college this year. The house is a little messy but that is to be expected. Two of the roommates are in a band and have friends come over almost every night to play. Saturday night I was able to play with them and it was a great time. On the side of the house there is a trampoline and a half-pipe, and every day I have been skateboarding and doing flips on the tramp before bed.

In my internship, I have been able to learn about all the work that goes into space missions. there are years of planning, thousands of tests, and very close attention to detail. outside my internship, I have been learning to live on my own and look into life after high school. I am very excited for the next 5 weeks of my internship.
