Hello Everyone!

If you haven’t been following my posts my name is Taylor Larose and I am studying Marine Biology in Santa Barbara! This week was the same as last. I went over images searching for any boring clams. Boring clams are a type of clam that dig into rock.

Monday I spent all day in the lab looking for these clams. When I finished I went on a short walk.

Tuesday was different. I attended a lab studying sand crabs. I worked with undergraduate students to find around 3,000 of these crabs. We then sorted them by size and counted the amount of males and females. We could identify their sex due to either the presence or lack of bright orange eggs.

Wednesday I again worked on my mentor’s files and found many clams in the images.  After I finished I got to go home early so I explored the neighborhood some more.

Thursday I was back at it again with the clams an got a lot of files completed. I watched the sunset from outside my apartment and made pasta for dinner.

Friday it was only another intern and I in the lab. We worked on the clams until my mentor’s wife came and gave advice on how to get into college at UC Santa Barbara, which was helpful as I am looking at coming here for college.

Over the weekend I went to the beach and went into town with fellow intern and roomate Amiyah! We saw a movie, went to an art museum and tried In N Out for the first time.
