My third week with Emblematic group has been good! If this is the first blog of mine you are seeing, Hi! My name is Amelie Sante and I am doing a virtual internship with Emblematic group, a digital media company focused on immersive virtual, mixed and augmented reality. I have now rapped up my third week of my internship and have much more to share!

At the start of week three of my internship, I had a meeting with an Emblematic group member and a couple other interns. We began the meeting by talking about an ongoing project. The project is a VR film about a historical figure. At the moment, I can’t share details about the project, but I will try to explain some of the work I have done so far without revealing too much information. Through a program called REACH,  a no-code WebXR platform that allows you to create AR and VR scenes, I have been building prototypes for the VR film about a historical figure. This work, including the work the other interns and I have done, will act as an example/prototype for the final VR film. Some of what I have been doing is searching for the correct objects and buildings that historically match the event, and pulling them into REACH to make it all come to life. To find these buildings and objects/people, I have been using a website called scetchfab. Scetchfab is the largest platform for immersive and interactive 3D that allows you to directly upload and download 3D models. With the use of scetchfab and REACH, I have gotten even closure to creating a finished VR scene.

This is one building I pulled into REACH that I did not end up sticking with for the VR project.

During the meeting, I also brought up some challenges that I had run into. As I have gotten closer to finishing the scene, there were some specific objects that were in a different pose than what I wanted. I couldn’t directly change it in REACH and struggled to figure out how I could re-position the objects. With the help of an Emblematic group member and the other interns, I was able to figure out how to conform the objects in a way that I liked more. A platform that I had previously looked at called Blender allowed me to do this. I will be continuing to work in REACH, scetchfab, and Blender to finish the prototype for the historical figure VR film.

This weekend my soccer team played in the state championship soccer game. We unfortunately lost, but were happy to have placed second, something the Telluride girls soccer team had never previously done.
