Monday:

After spending another beautiful weekend in Santa Cruz skateboarding, surfing, and exploring the city I was ready to get back to work. I had a meeting with Jeff(My supervisor) about my next project. The last few weeks I have been developing and testing a segment of c++ code that pulls essential data out of audio recordings. The final stage of development for my code had been to make the code run different files through different cores. Meaning multiple files can be run at once and can, therefore, speed up the reading process. I had completed this last week on Friday and done one test on it. Jeff and I decided on another audio based project for me to work on. I was going to work on creating a new firmware for a device called an AudioMoth. This firmware will allow the user to input a table of times for the device to start and stop recording instead of using a set time for every day. I am also working on making the devices only record certain decibel levels.

Tuesday:

I have found a way to “flash” the firmware of the AudioMoths and I am starting to read through their firmware code. I am not sure if I will be able to complete my project in the specified amount of time I have for it but I will still try my best to at least get the time feature done. Bernie Took me surfing in the afternoon at one of the local surf spots. They were by far the biggest waves that I have ever surfed. I had a blast! We surfed from 6:00 to 9:00 at night.

Wednesday:

I further my research into their codes and started tinkering with the program. Some of the issues are that I have no way to actually test my code because I have no way to configure my program. I will have to figure out if it works later. After work today I went skateboarding and, again, stayed out until 9:00 with Finn Tershey, the Terheys second oldest.

Thursday:

I made a lot of progress on my refinement of the code. However, I have not had the chance to test it because I have no way to actually set up the data set. I will be starting tests on Monday with the devices.

I can’t stop with the panoramas
