I can’t believe it has already been five weeks! This week has been great! At the lab I have been getting closer to finishing my project. I have been analyzing all of my data so I can use it in my final results. I have to give a presentation about my research project on my last day and I have begun to prepare for that. I have been doing many different kind of analysis on my PKA mutants A211D and A211T. RMSF measures the flexibility of a structure. I compared my RMSF values of the mutations to the original protein. I also did an analysis called POVME, which was made by one of the graduate students in the lab. It measures and shows how a binding pocket changes throughout a conformational change.  Next week I will be finishing up this analysis and putting together my final presentation.

A Panda we saw at the San Diego Zoo.

Aside from working in the lab I have been doing a lot with Megan and Kacy, other Pinterns staying with my host family. We went to a play called “The Last Tiger in Haiti” last Sunday with our host mom Lora. We have gone to the beach and souvenir shopping as well. Saturday we went to the zoo along with Sam, the other Pintern in San Diego. I have been having a great time here and I can’t believe I only have one week left!
