This was my fifth week interning for the Rodham Institute in public health at Georgetown University. I was able to visit two universities on my college list this week, as well as catch a train up to New York this weekend.
Monday: On Monday I was able to visit the University of Delaware. I woke up early to catch a 9:30am train out to Newark, Delaware. I took the tour at 11:30am, it was a good experience because I did not connect with the campus. This helps me narrow down my college list and only apply to places I actually want to go to.
Wednesday: On Wednesday I visited the University of Maryland – College Park. This university has been at the top of my list for about a year. It was good to go there and see the campus and connect with the atmosphere. I absolutely loved it here.
Saturday: On Saturday I took a train up to NYC for the weekend. I stayed with a family friend, and I had a ticket to see the broadway show Cabaret. Sarah Holbrooke coincidentally was also is NY so we grabbed dinner together and she got a ticket to Cabaret, so we saw the show together. After intermission I was lucky enough to be pulled onstage by an actor in the show to then get to dance on a broadway stage. This was the greatest moment of my life so far. The only thing that could beat it is actually being cast in a broadway show. After the show I did stage door and I got to meet Eddie Redmayne, who I’ve been a fan of since I was five.
Sunday: Today I had brunch with Peter(family friend I am staying with). Then we walked the Brooklyn bridge because we were in Brooklyn Heights. I then went to Columbia University to hang out around the campus. I had a train at Penn Station back to DC, and I got there to find out that it had been canceled because a power line had fallen on the tracks. So now I am staying the night at Sarah Holbrooke’s place.
Next week I may be moving up to NYC to stay with Sarah and complete my internship here.
