This was my fourth week interning at the Rodham Institute in public health with Georgetown University. I had the opportunity to intern with Senator Paul Strauss and his law office this week. It was great to see how a law office ran, and be able to help out with some of the cases they had going on.

Saw the NPR building on my way to the apartment building

Monday: Monday was my first day at the law office. That day I sat in with Paul Strauss while he had a zoom meeting with a client. After that, I was sent to an apartment building to help the clients with handing out a survey.

Tuesday: On Tuesday I was able to help one of the other interns with organizing evidence documents into each response category. We spent a while on the printer trying to get it to scan large piles of paper because it would stop halfway through the stack.

Wednesday: On Wednesday I got to sit in on Senator Strauss’s tv interview. This was very cool to get to see how people interview on news sites, and what it is like to be on that side of the programming. Senator Strauss was asked what he thought about Biden’s debate performance and the upcoming democratic convention in Chicago.

Thursday: On Thursday I was able to sit in on an in-person client meeting. This was a good experience to learn how an attorney briefs their client for going on the witness stand and how they discuss the upcoming trial.

Friday: Friday was my last day at the office. Senator Strauss was very nice and gave me a mug to remember my time there.

Next week I will be visiting the University of Maryland and the University of Delaware. I will also be shadowing with Dr. Gigi, the head of the Rodham institute during her clinic.
