Hello everyone, this was my final week in Santa Barbara and I am so grateful for this experience that the Pinhead organization
helped me to achieve!
On Monday we went into lab, each finished a transect and then checked past completed transects from last Friday. After work I met up with my Dad who had flown in to help me move out. Once we got a bite to eat, Sam and I went to go pick out sweatshirts to remember our time here. That night we went out to the fish market with our dads to get dinner. After dinner we ordered Crumbl cookies to celebrate the end of our internships and started packing.
Tuesday was our finally day in lab. We started our day with each completing a transect, then checked each others work. Its wild that it used to take us the whole day for the both of us to complete one transect but now we could each complete one by lunch! Once done we left cards for our amazing mentors then I headed to meet up with my dad. We headed over to Stearns Wharf to explore the pier. We went and checked out the marine center on the pier, we got to touch urchins and see some of 
the different species I had seen working on ViQi. After dinner I headed home to finish packing and cleaning before our move out.
On Wednesday we got up bright and early to pack up Sam’s car for their road trip home. Once the car was loaded we said our goodbyes. Later I returned our keys and finished up some final paper work. Then headed meet up with my dad at his hotel before we went to the airport to travel home.
This internship was so amazing and incredible! If you are considering this internship next year, send it! I have learned so much and made lasting relationships and memories. I am so grateful for my mentors at UCSB and the Pinhead Institute for making this happen! I look forward to sharing my full presentation in September.
