Hello all! Wow, I can’t believe that I am done with my internship!
This week was filled with our usual fieldwork. We experimented with filming with two new flowers (Geranium maculatum and Hymenoxys) to help train the AI for the next field season. This meant we did not manipulate these plants, they were only used to test compatibility with the cameras.
I was also lucky enough to meet with some of the PIs for the University of Washington. It was great seeing how they reviewed our project and added their ideas and thoughts.
On Wednesday Chris and I had another R lesson where I learned how to run a T-Test. We used data from two of our camera units for comparison. It was amazing to see how such a small line of code could produce results (I wish I had known this last year in my AP Stats class ha!).
On Thursday, the BAT team went out to dinner in CB. I also went to dinner with my host mom and went to the movies!
Then Friday was our lab day where we possessed data, had our meeting, and pinned some butterflies!
I spent my free time hiking through the beautiful mountains, taking late-night walks, and doing workout classes! I returned home on Saturday and have been hanging out with my family.
I can not even express how grateful I am for this internship opportunity. I have made many amazing connections and will continue to look back on these five weeks fondly. Thank you to Pinhead, the Brosi lab, and especially Chris and Sarah! This has been a truly life-changing experience.
