To those who have read the past two week’s blogs, welcome back! And to those who are new here, welcome! My name is Brooke Duncan and I am doing a software development/engineering internship with Agile Onboarding here in Telluride, CO. It will come as no surprise to most of you that this week has been full of new and exciting accomplishments and learning opportunities. To make a long story short, the last five days have been spent putting all of my work from the past two weeks into one semi-functional product. Last week I spent much of my time using a program called Flowise to create a prototype of what will eventually be my final product. Now, the thing about Flowise is that while it may be easy and relatively self-explanatory, it can be limiting when it comes to new and innovative software implementations, such as the specific AI use case I am working on. With that in mind, I started this week by converting all the “drag-and-drop” “code” I had into written Python in Google Colab. After several long hours of troubleshooting, everything was working as expected, and I was able to begin the fun part: building out what I had and adding new features and capabilities. As of now, Friday afternoon, the finish line for this project is in sight, something I did not think I would be saying on Monday morning. On a different side of things, one of my mentor’s technical team leads was in town for a few days, so I had the opportunity to work beside the two of them for the entire day on Tuesday. As I mentioned in one of my past blogs, having the chance to observe, meet, and work beside Basit and his team is an incredible way to gain insight into what it really takes to keep a software company up and running, as well as just how crucial good team dynamics and communication are.
On the outside-of-work-activities front, I have been doing daily Jud Weibes to start my mornings, and have been making an effort to get out of the office and enjoy the beautiful weather. We have some friends from Germany in town, so I anticipate lots of paddleboarding, hikes, and general tom-foolery in the next few days!
That just about sums up this week, so on that note, have an amazing weekend everyone!
