This week was a wrap-up for everything in the program, it was a preparation for an upcoming science presentation I gave with Arturo my lab partner, we had some free days and I hung out more with my roommates visiting different parts of San Diego.
Monday we had a seminar with a famous bass player in the morning, he told us how he became a bass player and he played some music for everyone it was by far the best seminar on Enlace. After that I went with Taehee and we checked that the slides were correct, we changed some characters and we edited some schemes so they would be way easier to understand.
Tuesday we had a free day since Taehee wanted us to enjoy San Diego a little bit more this last day, so I went with my roommates to see a San Diego Padres game against the Colorado Rockies.
Wednesday Taehee invited me and Arturo to Starbucks to do a small rehearsal of our presentation, he edit some small mistakes we still had at the presentation, but when we presented he was amazed at how polished we had presentation, Taehee then congratulated us on our success and he told us that we were going to do some EIS data at 2:30 pm and then we said goodbye to the SMEL lab.
Thursday I had a resting day, so I set up a little presentation practice with Arthur but, during the day I went to San Ysidro to see the US/Mex border.
Friday was the presentation day, it wasn’t really how I expected the talk to be since most of the people were walking around without paying attention, but it was a great experience being on a podium in front of 200 people talking about the research you did for almost 2 months, after the talk we did our mentor said goodbye to us and we took a picture and he gave us some gifts, I was kind of reflective about this program and how it felt like 3 weeks only but it was almost 2 months, in the end, I got my diploma, and went to the beach a last time with some friends .
Saturday was a really sad day for me since I said goodbye to everyone, I left the dorm at 2 am Sunday so I could arrive at my flight at a good time.
