Hello everyone! This week, I continued to work on the user interface of the Percy Health App. I was able to develop a function that would facilitate the creation of multiple screens with varying questions. This task took up Tuesday through Thursday, mostly because it required implementing computer science logic that I had not done for a while. The trick to making sure I could get it done was consistency in trying out new approaches. I needed to make sure that I didn’t spend all of my time trying to make one solution work, but rather trying many different solutions for shorter intervals of time. Learning the balance between persevering and pivoting (trying something new) is an essential skill in the field of software development.
My grandparents visited me this week to help me move out of my apartment and explore Hanover. I took them to the opening of my mentor’s art show, which was spectacular. The exhibition consisted of a cargo container filled with neon material and technologies from different points in history. The opening of the display included a showing of “The Wizard of Oz”, substituting the film’s soundtrack for Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of The Moon” album. All of the components played into the theme of the evolution of technology with a nostalgic undertone.
On Friday, my grandparents and I departed for Boston. Since we had an afternoon to explore the city, we went to the Harvard Museum of Natural History. There, I was blown away by their collection of minerals and the varying range of origins. The next day, I traveled back to Telluride.
