Hello everyone! I am Madison Shubert and I am interning at Fort Lewis College in Durango for Planetary Geology. And this is my last week of my internship. It has been a truly amazing experience. And I will remember it for the rest of my life.

On Monday, July 25th I finished up some calculations of shortening in four different cross-sections on Earth that I had started on Friday the previous week. Then, I spent the rest of my day working on a draft of my research paper concluding all of our findings about Europa and its tectonic activity. This so that we have a way of providing evidence to our recent research. I started out by writing out our results and our methods used to find these outcomes.

On Tuesday, July 26th I continued to work on my research paper. I spent most of the time writing the introduction and the background information. And revising the parts I had written the day before.

On Wednesday, July 27th I started the day by continuing to work on my research paper. I worked on writing the results and conclusion to our research. Then I spent the rest of my day working on a slide – show in order to present our discoveries.

On Thursday, July 28th I continued to work on my slide – show presentation. And then I gave my mentor a panting of Europa and Jupiter. In order to show my appreciation and to say thank you for teaching me so much and agreeing to be my mentor when she was already very busy. I then spent the rest of the day revising my slides and filling out self reflection questions.

Friday, July 30th was my last day.  I spent my day looking at a lot of geological maps of Durango.  So that I could learn how to read and interpret all of the geological formations from a map.  My mentor gave me a had lens, which is considered an essential for all geologists.  So that way they can look at a rock really closely in the field.  She also gave me a Roadside Geology book of Colorado.  So that way I could see the causes for all of the Geological formations around my home.  And that concluded my internship.  I spent the rest of my day packing up my apartment and turned in my key, then went home.  Thank you to all of the people involved with Pinhead for giving me this opportunity of a life time.
