What’s up everyone! Welcome back to the fourth week of my internship at Long Table Farm! Working with everyone on the farm is such a fun chill environment. Monday we started off the week busy getting all the produce ready for the 76 CSA members on Tuesday. That morning I harvested 124 bunches of kale and 76 bunches of rainbow chard with Kate. Then went on to harvesting 115 cucumbers. After lunch I worked with Morgan in the washroom. I sorted cucumbers and summer squash. Then I got to process the garlic that we hung up to curate on our second day at the farm.
Tuesday we all got tp harvest flowers bright and early when we arrived. It was so fun all the different varieties are so beautiful!
After we harvested all the flowers I got to shadow Kate in making flower bouquets! It was very fun to learn her process and make my own for CSA. Since she is gone until next Monday she wanted someone to semi know what they were doing to make bouquets for market on Saturday.
After lunch we all packaged the boxes for CSA. Michael’s dad came because he brought him lunch so he even got to help us. After the boxes we cleared 2 old beds.
Unfortunately on Wednesday morning I woke up with a fever and had to drive home so I wouldn’t get my host family sick. It turns out that I have strep and can’t go to the farm for the rest of the week. I tested negative for covid and got antibiotics this morning. So this will be where I am ending the blog. I am going to spend the rest of this week/weekend resting and get back to the farm on Monday!
