Hello again! This was the 7th week of my online internship with the Collaborative to Combat the Illegal Turtle Trade (CCITT). After meeting with my mentor, Jennifer Sevin, again on Monday, I continued to work on managing online turtle sale data. I’m excited that the information that my fellow intern and I have worked on will continue to be collected. I will also begin working on a paper about the data collected so far. I will then be presenting my findings on the monthly CCITT conference call in August. That means my internship will be continuing for another month!
On Friday, I attended a CCITT Zoom meeting. I was able to listen to a great presentation by an accomplished conservation criminologist. She talked about how many places she has worked in, which was very exciting. Before the presentation, I hadn’t really considered how important the social sciences were in conservation.
On Saturday, I attended a Pinhead Institute fundraiser in Telluride. It was great to talk to guests about my internship and listen to other interns.
Outside of my internship, my family and I went on a mini road trip to see the wild flowers at Cinnamon Pass and Alpine Loop. I was also able to spend time with my best friend for the first time since quarantine began.
