Hello Everyone! I’m glad to have the opportunity to speak with you all again! This week hosted a major development in my internship with History Colorado. Last week, I told you all that I was going to officially pick a subject for my Oral History project, and I did not disappoint. I am now pursuing people involved in the Sugar Beet production/processing industry on the Western Slope from the early 20th century to the 1970’s. It is a fascinating subject, and one that I believe is tied irreversibly to the history of this region in general. I’m just beginning my research on the industry and its impacts on Colorado’s economy and society, but I’ll make sure to let you know what I find!

On a personal note, I went camping this week at Silverjack reservoir. I went swimming, paddleboarding, and gazed at the stars next to a campfire for hours. It was heavenly and the weather was fantastic! I would highly recommend camping to anyone yearning to get out in nature in these trying times. I’ll speak with you all next week!
