Hello! This was my third week at the Bernier Lab in Seattle. This week at work was one of the busiest weeks I have had since I started. My big tasks were working on data entry and different presentations. The different presentations were based on genetics events we have seen or are about to see. I finished the special project I was assigned last week which was compiling data collected from the DYRK1A conference at the beginning of my internship in order to see different data trends present. The other presentation I was working on was for a genetic event called CTNNB1. I was working on this presentation because in the upcoming weeks we will be seeing some participants with this genetic syndrome. I also worked on data entry for EEG and Eye Tracking from the DYRK1A conference. Along with data entry and preparing presentations, I was also able to observe and help with more CONNECT-FX visits. Some of the participants we saw in previous weeks have come in for another visit prescribed by the sponsor of the clinical trial, and it was cool to see them again and the process they are making.
After work on Monday and Wednesday I was able to play soccer! On Monday it was indoor and on Wednesday it was outdoor. I would like to say that on both occasions my team was the best out on the field :). On Saturday, I was also able play pick-up soccer in Kirkland with Micah’s dad, Daniel. On the other days I did not have soccer, I would hang out at the house, explore around Green Lake or other areas close to me. On Saturday afternoon, my host family, Ruddy and Linda, took me on a little tour of different towns around Seattle to see the major sights; we went to Ballard and saw the locks and salmon latter.
