The first week in San Diego Califonia has been both a thrilling one and a challenging one. The first week of my internship at the UCSD BioChemCore has been a boot camp of learning how to code in various different coding languages such as python and bash along with being introduced to the workings of computational chemistry. We have learned how to load different 3-dimensional models of proteins and then fix them up in order to prepare them for a molecular dynamics simulation that we will be able to study in the following weeks.
Outside of the lab, my time has been filled with going to the beach and attempting to surf along with one trip to the renowned San Diego Zoo.
