This week my mentor, Dale, was away at a conference. I was unable to work with him on the operations part of MAVEN, so I spent the week in the SPSC, the space science research building, working with the data obtained from MAVEN looking for evidence of aurorae in the UV spectrum of the Martian atmosphere.
I parsed through about 5,000 sets of data, and found just under 150 separate
instances of aurorae spread across three years. I also worked a little bit in several of the engineering labs, mostly in one of the UltraViolet Dark Labs, which is for the testing of UV detectors and the instruments.
