My third week working for the Democratic Party was very involved. In the beginning of the week, I worked on putting together a calendar of events that would draw nearby college students out. This involved searching all over the internet for events happening in mostly the Denver area, and then deciding whether or not they would be of interest to college students. This week also coincided with the Republican National Convention, which made things quite tense at the office.
On Thursday night my office held a poetry slam and slow jam, called “Literally Trump”. This involved inviting people in the area to write poems or slow jams reacting to some of the things Trump has said in his lifetime. Overall, it was a really fun event, in which I helped sign up over thirty people to make calls, register voters, or host a house meeting. The event was a resounding success and also helping us gain thousands of followers on social media.
