This week was much more fun and interesting than last week. Last weekend Brigid, my host-mom drove me around to see the KFC Yum Center, where Muhammad Ali’s funeral was, the Ohio River, which separates Kentucky from Indiana, a bunch of neighborhoods with 100 year old mansions, and a ton of other great sights! I got to go to Indiana, too, because there is a phenomenal cupcake shop just across the river!
Things are getting much more interesting at work, too! I have been given a regular schedule to stick to. I show up every day at 8:30 observe and tend to regular sessions all day. I have been working with specific patients in their recovery process and have been making friends with all of them along the way.
For the time between sessions, I go to my cubicle and do Data Analysis. It might not sound very interesting, but the process reveals a lot of important information needed for efficacious recovery. When I run the Data Analysis, I convert files and import them into program that graphs the data in them. This helps find the appropriate intensity of stimulation for each patient.
Outside of work I am exploring the diversity of the city and enjoying the climate. The humidity is very new to me and it scared me before I got here. But now that I’m here, it feels really nice. My host family has an exclusive membership to a pool that was built into a rock quarry so I have everyday access to a beautiful relaxation place.
We do lots of fun and interesting things on the weekends and after I get home from work. Today, for example, I went to a Catholic Picnic (which is just a fair put on by the church to raise money) which was lots of fun!
