Week 8 is complete and was absolutely packed with activity. Half the week was filled preparation time for a Critical Design Review (CDR) of the ARES Rotor Control System. Monday through Wednesday were filled with making updates to manufacturing plans and bills of materials, as well as editing slides of various designs for the system. Also included was the making of my first engineering drawing of two control rods used in the prop system. This process provided much insight into what exactly goes into designing a part. Drawing the rods themselves were only a small part of the process. Other things, such as assigning part numbers, drawing in a scaled down format, and ordering the raw material were included.
As Thursday dawned, I cut my time short at the office and caught a morning train up to New York City to rendezvous with my Grandmother and Uncle. All weekend was spent in the breathtaking metropolis.
While staying in Brooklyn with our family friend, Vivian Toan, we: caught a U2 concert in Madison Square Garden, indulged in the exhibits of the Metropolitan Museum of Art,
biked around the city, saw the Broadway Musical “A Gentleman’s Guide To Love and Murder”, glimpsed the blue moon at 2 AM from Lincoln Center, visited Greenwich Village, attended a gig at the Blue Note Jazz Club,
and paid respects to the 9/11 memorial, among many other things.
The city was the whole world wrapped in one package, and was truly a pleasure to experience. I hope to return soon.
A special thanks goes out to Vivian Toan for accommodating and accompanying us, and to my Grandmother, Francy Tisdel and Uncle, Ben Tisdel for meeting me in the greatest city on earth.
There’s a present headed your way for the Myers family. Hope it arrives before you leave for home. Looking forward to having you back. Need help moving a certain rock.
Would HitchBot agree with W.C. Fields?
