Exposure to the world of engineering continues during my time here at Piasecki Aircraft, and the past few days have been packed.
The week started out with the tracking down of various parts for ARES. Although monotonous, it was a good way to familiarize myself with the layout of the factory and the systems involved with ARES.
In addition, I made improvements to the quad copter landing gear I designed by replacing the hose clamps with rivets.
In addition, I discovered that the quad copter is in fact a test platform for a new DARPA project intended to create an unmanned system that can map its own surroundings using lasers. After completing these tasks, I made digital power point drawings of an engineer’s design of a bearing system for the ARES drive train.
This week also saw the arrival of another high school intern along with two college interns. All three were engaging and awesome to work with. Also on the new arrival list was the engine the for ARES aircraft
To top it all off was a Fourth of July celebration courtesy of Ridley Park. Dazzling fireworks ushered the week forward.
A packed week indeed, Son. Good work. Good summary.
And while you’re checking out the Liberty Bell and the home of the First Continental Congress, don’t forget to check out the famous cream cheese works!
Love,
Da
You have had some serious responsibilities this week, Morgan! What a heavy work load…as well as interesting. What an exciting change to have some peers added to the mix…it must be a lively change in the routine. Where are their home towns and schools?
