We are setting up testing tanks to see the indirect affects of predators on the kelp. Basically, we are putting isopods in cages with a blade of kelp, both into a tank with a fish (isopod predator)… we are trying to see if the fish’s presence somehow affects the isopods’ eating habits, therefore affecting the kelp that they eat. (More about it next week).
I helped put together identification cards for kelp. The identification cards get tied to the kelp, then the kelp and the card get reported back to the university.
