Week three

  • imageimageimageAs I finish my third week here at AuburnVeterinary Teaching School, I’m beginning to understand two things about Auburn. One is that the humidity is overwhelming. The second realization is that Auburn is one of the best vet schools in the country and I am very fortunate to spend my internship here, thanks to the Pinhead institute. This week I rotated with a group of vet students from the Beef rotation to the reproductive rotation. My new professor’s name is Dr. Wenzel and he is full of energy and is always there to help me understand. (This mostly involves “dumbing down” the scientific vocabulary that is used casually throughout lectures and procedures. He always knows when to help me understand something( I think it has something to do with the blank and mystified look all over my face.). None the less I’m learning how to palpate a cow to see if she is pregnant and how far along she is. I’m also learning how to tell productive sperm from unproductive sperm. Of course it takes a microscope to see these cells. Despite the heat I am learning and am comfortable where I’m staying. This weekend Jim and I got to go to the local lake for a day. I enjoyed this very much until I got home and was looking in the mirror and realized I look like a cooked lobster. I’m doing great and having fun!

Hey that is awesome… does that mean we will never have to pay to preg check again? I can totally resemble the lobster stuff. Love You!
